Light Animation

Last lesson we were doing light animation What we did was turn the camera we were using (Cannon 5D) in to a setting called bulb where it opens the shutter and takes in all the light it sees which creates the effect of the light so what we ended up doing is that we turned off the lights and got torches which were in different colours then we make shapes with the lights creating an image.

Then after we split into our own groups  we made a christmas themed picture where we made christmas tree with presents and decorations on the tree in our groups

This Video Is a light animation we made.
What we did was we got one person to be player on and the other to be player 2 what they did was draw lines up and down repeatedly to create the likes and somebody was making a circular motion with another coloured torch to make the ball while another person was telling all of them how to do it. then when we hold down the capture button and got the first image we would move a bit then get a new one then do the same again and again then until we were done getting the images. Then editing the video on final cut I put all the images on the time line and shortened the duration to 00.00.00.03 Secconds. It is like a bigger version of stop animation

In this video what we did was going into pairs and made an animation by getting my lego man and car with a tripod and camera (cannon 1000D) and then made him move by taking a picture then move him a bit took another picture move him again ect It was stop animation.
We did this so the charecter would go into the car and drive away which was a easy thing to animate because the changing positions of the figure wasnt complicated to do. When editing in final cut all we had to do was drag all of the pictures into the timeline and change the duration to 00.00.00.03 amd then we had the video.
I thought the video was ok the charecter going into the car was pretty cool i thought but the driving away was a little sloppy as it made no sence if i could do this animation again id made him drive away more and take care while taking a picture of it.

Last Week

Last week Vinny took us out to do some portrait photography.
We got a white background which was actually a cheap blinds and then we set up the lighting equipment which  were Bowen gemini lights.
Vinny gave us the freedom to move the lights however we wanted Also he got a Bowens

3 way Grid diffuser to get a better picture for the portraits. in my picture the lighting wasn't very good because i was the second person to take pictures and the class had not got the hang of messing with the lighting yet.
But as we carried on with the lesson the pictures gradually got better as we were getting the hang of altering the position of the lights and the light intensity.

The top picture is of pete and thats a picture I took of him. When i did this i had to experiment  different lighting and positions

Zombie Session

Last Thursday we ere dressing up as zombies and had to have a photo shoot for making a Zombie film poster for Lance.
We had a make up designer called Kate who showed us different techniques on how to make the zombies look realistic. Roger was going to do my make up first he got a sponge and painted my face purple and after made some scars all over the face. Kate gave me a fake bullet wound that you stick to your head and it basically looks like you have been shot. I put it on my head. Also I got Molly to back comb my hair to make it look a bit wild and out of control.

Kate showed us a way of making fake blood by getting chocolate sauce and mixing it with red food dye this actually worked pretty well as we were taking pictures I got the blood all over me which made some pretty good pictures.
When we got into the studio there was a green light on to add some spooky effect. As the pictures were being taken Roger was telling me what kind of poses he wanted as they were being taken.

After a while Stephen came with a blanket and wrapped it around me to give more spooky feelings of the images

Bowens Gemini lighting session

What we did to get these pictures were that we had Bowens Gemini lightning to make the pictures look better.
We had to set up the lighting by first getting the tripod out then connected it to the light after that we got the battery and hooked it up to the light.
The camera we used was a cannon 5D and that was also connected to the lighting equipment. so that as we take pictures it would flash to give better lighting in the image.
when using the camera we learned about ISO , shutter speed and F stops.
ISO controls the cameras sensitivity to light so the higher the sensitivity the less light is needed. This is useful for taking effective pictures for example if an image is too light we could turn the sensitivity down or if you were taking a picture in the evening you could turn the ISO up to get more light.
Shutter speed controls the time the shutter is open letting light through the lens to the sensor inside the camera The times vary from very small seconds to several seconds. This would be useful if it was a bright day and there is a lot of light and you take a picture of something  you may have the problem of leaving the shutter open too long and the too much light would get into the sensor making the image pale/white.
